Kodak Social Media Tips

My dad works for Kodak and their CEO sent out this letter a few days ago...

Team --

We put a 16-page booklet together that shares some thoughts and first-hand experiences using social media for business. This is a hot topic and Kodak is regarded as a company that "gets it" when it comes to use of social media. I think you'll find the information contained in this guide useful for your sales people, customers, partners or anyone that would benefit from your organization.

Also included are Kodak's social media guidelines that should be followed to comply with our one-voice policy, and protect Kodak and your own privacy and resources.

Why do I take the time to use social media like Twitter and Facebook? Because in today’s media landscape, it’s vitally important to be where our customers are. Kodak has always embraced this marketing philosophy, and today one aspect of that means being active in social media.

In this booklet you will find:
  • A brief description of the social media landscape
  • Myths about social media
  • 10 Social Media Tips from Kodak’s Chief Blogger
  • A Top 10 list for Twitter usage
  • How to get started in social media
  • Kodak's social media guidelines
  • Kodak social media activation examples
  • Troubleshooting

The pdf is available on the web at: http://www.kodak.com/go/followus .

If you got some time go to the site and download the PDF the information is extensive. I was also impressed that their CEO put his facebook and twitter information in his signature.

Another gem of a post. I have already downloaded the PDF and added it to the required readings section in mycourses. While we have covered this material in class, this article is a must read to just get a feel of how corporations like Kodak are using Social media.

Question: I do like how the CEO put his Twitter and facebook information in his email signature. Professor Murthy, do you think it is beneficial for us to include these such items on our resumes, in our email signatures, and/or on business cards?
