Social Media impacts the Jury?

Posted by G-Unkovski

It seems Facebook has jeopardized a verdict that sentenced a man for life in prison for the murder of his wife. Two members of the jury were using Facebook to talk about the jury duty while they were still behind closed doors making the decision. The convict has asked for a retrial based on this slip up.

See, its those kind of things where people need to learn to keep their mouths shut. People are depending too much on social interaction via the internet, that they are loosing site of the fact the internet is so open and public. no one really understands the privacy rights as it is.

What was the court thinking allowing the jurors to have access to the internet anyway? When working on a trial, the jury is not supposed to be allowed any access to the outside world in order to avoid being swayed by public views. Bad job on their part. Legally, the defendant should have every right to call a retrial, now.
