Twitter may have found a Revenue

Posted by Thomas Barguirdjian in , , ,

Two deals on Wednesday suggest Twitter might start making a revenue. The term of the deals were not disclosed but they involved Google and Microsoft's Bing. Two companies that would supposedly make the steady stream of "tweets" available on their search engines. Ads would then appear when users search for tweets, bringing a unknown amount of revenue for Twitter.

Twitter's CEO Evan Williams did mention that revenue was not "the focus of the deals."

Cool! This was one of my suggestions, too. The search is really the only part of Twitter they could put ads on without turning users away. If they were to place ads on profile pages, it would cause a mess.

It is interesting that they are working so closely with Bing. That search engine is really starting to grow lately.
