Social Media on Xbox 360

Posted by Leo Lei

On November 17, 2009, Facebook and Twitter will be available on the Xbox 360 Dashboard. Sony is also following along with this strategy to get gamers connected by implementing Facebook into their PS3 sometime next year. With over 10 million sold, "Twitter and Facebook on Xbox 360, the largest social networks combine seamlessly with the largest entertainment and gaming network, Xbox Live."

I haven't read this article yet, but I can already imagine what Microsoft and Sony have in store for their gamers. With blogs and online forums so popular among the gaming world, people will be connected to Facebook and Twitter more often then ever before. If they can implement some easy to use application for their systems, they will have an even larger river of traffic flowing through their Web sites.

Will probably open more possibilities for marketers and advertisers in the gaming market.

I just posted another article about this from PC World haha. I think this is for sure a great idea. It will make it a better experience for users, as well as create options for advertising, and targeting specific markets.

I don't think this will hold and the reason is simple. It take a LONG time to type anything on the 360 console. It is annoying enough when you have to type in 40 letters to recover your gamer tag let along leaving a message. The only thing it may work for is simply checking your messages.
