$2 million donation through text

Posted by Courtney Anthony

The company mGive started a campaign to raise money for the earthquake in Haiti. This campaign was instantly successful because of its wireless capabilities. Donations were made through text messages. The campaign was mentioned in blogs, facebook, and twitter which also helped increase its success. Although this donation may seem instant, it still takes up to three months before real money is received. To read the full article, visit this site.

I think that this is a great idea. This can be used for numerous things such telefunding or fundraisers. This opens the ddoors to anyone who looks to raise a massive amount of money. People will be able donate on the go for anything organizations such red Cross could use it

This is awesome! I have never heard of this type of fundraising, but it is wonderful. I have worked with a lot of non profit organizations before, and what a lot of their fundraising problems are have to do with people who do not carry cash or checks. Even if their fundraiser is planned way ahead of time, a lot of the people who are involved are passers by who do not carry money, so they cannot give impulse donations. By having this system, they can get impulse donors and have no hassle of physically setting up an event.
