Google Buzz

Google launches their new service Google Buzz. This service offers a new way to start conversations of all of the things you find interesting. Users are able to share photos, videos and links. The service directly integrates your gmail contacts and integrates updates directly to your gmail inbox so, you can see what happens at real time.

Buzz will be available for all gmail users. Similarly, this service is available for mobile.

I actually just got an invite to add google buzz. I seems like it's going to be a good thing and actually appears to be very similar to google wave.

I don't think I understand the utility of Google Buzz. It does look and act a lot like wave, except they've made it open to all instead of beginning with invites only. Is it supposed to replace email or IM? I just don't understand why Google keeps releasing all of these programs that have no clear definition of use and could be considered cannibals to their other programs. Just finish developing Wave!

I agree with Brynna. It seems as though Google has just been developing so many programs that they're confusing users rather than taking the time to explain why theirs a need for any of programs. Google Buzz looks like it will become a good program to use as it encompasses many of the tools offered by competitors into 1. But at the same time this worries me as it appear that Google is attempting to monopolize social media altogether.
