Twitter's mistake

We are all quite familiar with Twitter and its ways, for many, showing your Twitter popularity is a way to show employers social networking and web skills. Thus wouldn't it be great to be able to simply add followers, indeed it would.
If you had a bigger popularity on Twitter you were actually able to do so, a simple bug in the system allowed users to simply ad users as followers. Twitter soon enough discovered this bug and as a result for many Twitter users their accounts seemed to have no followers. Check out BBC's report on the happening.
