This article has a great summary of some companies that are really using social media to their advantage. In class we talked about a few of these, like Burger King, Sun Microsystems, and Dell. The article claims BlendTec as the number 1 smartest brand in social media with its comical "Will it Blend" videos on Youtube. BlendTec proved that a huge marketing campaign does not have to be expensive.

That article was informing and all, but its too bad we didn't have it up there for our last assignment on social media haha.

Though honestly the one that surprised me the most is IBM and its blogging ways. It just seems to be that IBM has for many years been the farthest thing from an innovator, yet the company is jumping on this wagon fairly quickly when it comes to social media. I guess they didn't want to miss out on a software opportunity yet again, haha.

IBM as a company is still pretty innovative, we just hear about it because they are more interested in patents and currently focusing on other things that will shore up the firms future. IBM and SUN have long been friends of the web. What i am surprised by is the number of people they are now employing for this purpose.
