It seems like Facebook has a better way of getting quality translations, but Google will be the first.
Google has the skills to make it work in a rapid amount of time. After it uses computers to do most of the work, a crowd-sourcing like Facebook has would be a great idea to fine tune the translator.

Its a story about how IBM's latest supercomputer has been placed in the lineup to compete on Jeopardy, and in a way I think that answers the question of the article in a very interesting way: perhaps it won't matter. If a computer has been built that can do more than simply analyze and then interpret, indeed understand how a human would react to new stimuli plus the impossible programming combinations that can give the computer different capabilities, translating languages would be small potatoes.
