Employers Using Second Life

I found this article to be really interesting, especially since we were just talking about second life in class on Wednesday. Because the economy has caused businesses to tighten their budgets, businesses need to start getting creative in order to compensate for their smaller traveling budgets. Second Life is planning on jumping on this opportunity by creating a tool that will enable companies to meet privately and safely online using avatars. According to the creators of Second Life, there are 14 businesses currently using this tool designed for them. Here is a link to the article if you are interested in reading more:

It is nice to see that Second Life has adapted to a business model that it may not have intended in the very beginning. What may have been a focus on individual leisure, it seems that Second Life is really taking advantage of its virtual community for businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies. It truly seems that the possibilities for Second Life are endless.

I think this idea has a lot of potential, however I wonder exactly how private these meetings would be. Is there a way to guarantee that these online meetings are secure and outsiders will not be able to see them? If private information was leaked, it could be hazardous to a company.
