Google Street View Special Collections

Yet another Google Product: Google is sending out a tricycle to whatever location gets the most votes so they can do the street view on sidewalks. One of the places that you can vote for is RIT, where you could actually "walk" down the quarter mile on Google Maps. The only way this will happen is if RIT gets a lot of votes.

RIT Campus Street View

I don't know if I would want to look at RIT of all places on Google Street, but its still a cool idea to look into. I'd say someplace with a lot more foot traffic, such as within a shopping plaza or theme park or something.

I did my part and voted for RIT and with enough votes the brick city will end up on the Google list along with the RIT island on second life. We will actually be one of the few campuses around the globe to be featured on multiple mapping and virtual worlds.

I heard that we already won, is that true? There is an article on the RIT website about it. I think this would be REALLY cool. I wonder how they will do it... does the campus need to be empty? This will be a great point that RIT can use to market themselves, being able to associate your name with Google is no doubt impressive. Go RIT!
