Title: Google AdWords Gets Legal Green Light From E.U. for Trademark Keywords

European brands like Louis Vuitton, sued Google for the use of trademarks as keywords in their AdWords system. Basically, Louis Vuitton did not like the fact that when people searched "Louis Vuitton bags", that ads for fake Louis Vuitton bags were showing up. This is an understandable argument, however, the European court ruled in Google's favor, which was no surprise. Google said that if there were a restriction of this, it would prevent the free flow of information over the web. What do you think?

I agree with the court ruling. Louis Vuitton has a lot more resources to work on search engine optimization and marketing than fake companies do. It is unfortunate for companies, but good for consumers as they can see ads from competitors when searching for certain products and services. If companies could not use competitor names for keywords, the level of competition would severely decrease and consumers would be hurt.
