What you really want to do is to really establish a legitimate relationship with your customer to make sure that they read and actively engage in your email offers.

Very interesting. I actually came across a similar article talking about how email marketing and social media are not competitors, but great complements to each other for any company who wants to successfully market themselves and their products/services.

I'm surprised there was even an apparent "debate" on this issue...which isn't an issue at all. It seemed pretty obvious to me that email marketing and social media are perfect complements to each other. You use email marketing to promote social media networks for your audience to interact and "spread the word" and vice versa.

I feel that email marketing is only the beginning of more personalized marketing. I will be essential that in the future companies cater to the customers on a personal level.

If Face book is in fact thinking about expanding to a email marketing plan it will a very profitable venture for them. They have the following to make it work and help email marketing in the end.
