Most people's new years resolution is to lose a few pounds. Technology has now come up with the most effective and practical way of doing so by using your cellphone. Nowadays, you can download applications which allow you to track everything you eat throughout the day. Certain applications, such as "LoseIt!," will also tell you your calorie intake for every meal. This application allows you to set up a weight-loss goal and deadline, and it gives you nutritional information and over 1,000 recipes.

The article states the importance of social motivation when dieting and therefore, it is expected that this feature will soon be available as part of the application. In addition, most applications databases are updated every other day; for example if a new meal is introduced in the market, it will appear in the database within the next couple of days.

This article makes me think about how badly Americans need instant gratification and ease of absolutely everything in our lives. There are so many diet websites available online that do exactly what this application does, take sparkpeople.com for example. Infact, these websites are more involved than this application and offer more help and guidance to the public about weight loss. I feel as though those people who used to browse the internet for their favorite sites are just waiting for those sites to become little applications on their cell phones that are even easier to access. I do believe this application will help many people out, however it is sad that everything is made so readily available to us that simply going online on our phones is now seen as a hassle.
